Our Background

Previously there were two child care associations responsible for the private child care sector: The Association of Child Care Centres of NSW and the Quality Child Care Association of NSW. The 1st of July 2003 saw the Amalgamation of those two Associations to form "Child Care New South Wales" One strong voice for Private Child Care!

We are now one united voice speaking for the Private Child Care sector. We hope to receive the recognition and respect that we deserve, based on the fact that at present we represent 750 Private Child Care Centres and we anticipate that this will increase to 1000 over the next few years.

We work with all people involved in Child Care including the Government both State and Federal Community Child Care and multiple Centre Owners. Hoping to work with you in the near future!

Why we exist

Child Care New South Wales connects members to their operating environment. We save them time; we save them worry; we help members with quality-improvement and help make them to be profitable; we help make them better able to respond to change; we give members a way to influence that change.

Individual child care operators are in healthy competition. But we also need to be able to think and speak with one voice - to governments, to industrial commissions, to the media, and to the Australian community (many of who still don't know what members are really selling).

Private owners now supply 75% of Australia's Long Day Care. But private owners struggle to have their voice heard, especially at State Government level. Together, we can change that. All private operators can benefit, all need to be engaged.

The private sector wants to work in partnership with government. Australian governments have important roles in childcare. The private sector recognises the need for regulation - but we want good-quality regulation - based on good decision-making that includes the private sector.

How to be heard

Government finds it very difficult to listen to individual operators. If you can't get your message to them via a professional body, you will struggle to be heard.

We help you be heard, and that helps all of us. Child Care New South Wales is strong. We are growing stronger. We can help you. You can help us help you, by lending your voice, by joining your private sector colleagues making life better, for yourself, for children and families, and for your community.

Child Care New South Wales invites you to be part of our family. Our strength is you. Your strength is us.

Membership to suit you

To meet specific needs of the private child care sector, we offer two types of membership. See here for information on Joining
